Vistas de las Lagunitas started with 5 friends who love Mexico and have traveled the
country, and especially the Baja peninsula, for over 30 years. Settling in San Felipe, they built
and enjoyed two vacation homes for 20 years. When the Mexican Government finally made
land ownership legal for Americans through a process called "Fedeicomoso" they jumped
at the offer of 85 acres just south of town. Enduring a two year process maneuvering
through the Mexican bureaucracy they were finally rewarded with legal ownership to their
land. Going a step further, they formed a legal Mexican corporation, and put the title to the
land in a bank trust, securing ownership in perpetuity. Although intending ownership only
for their own use (Each has already put in a house site and will be building ASAP) they
realized such a large property was more than enough to share. Family and friends
purchased eight lots (Four acres) and they still had over a mile and a half of empty land.
With the announcement by the Mexican Government that San Felipe had been chosen as the
next FONTAUR (Mexican Dept. of Tourism) development site (Cancun and Cabo San Lucas)
San Felipe is enjoying an economic boom and major upgrades to it's infrastructure. We
